Doctor Allen Hassan who is a US war veteran and an author of the book “the True Story of a Jungle Surgeon in Vietnam” met with Vietnamese readers in Ho Chi Minh City on September 2.

Mr Hassan first came to Vietnam in 1968 as an army doctor serving the central province of Quang Tri, where he witnessed the fearsome and heart-breaking losses of the Vietnamese people due to the saturation bombing by the US. He then changed his mind and became a pacifist. After the war in Vietnam, he wrote the book “the True Story of a Jungle Surgeon in Vietnam” to tell the world about the war crimes committed by the US in Vietnam.

The visit was made at the invitation of the Tri Viet Publishing Company. He shared with Vietnamese readers the US response to the book. On the occasion Mr Hassan and the Tri Viet Publishing Company presented 1,000 books to the Vietnam Fund for Agent Orange Victims.
