The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) will provide dossiers about 21 Vietnamese soldiers who died or were considered missing in action (MIA) during the US war in Vietnam. This was announced on October 9 at a briefing in Hanoi by a delegation of the Veterans Initiative Task Force (VITF) from the VVA.

The three dossiers include photos taken from reconnaissance planes and a battlefield sketch in Kham Duc, central Quang Nam province in September 1970 and others taken in central Da Nang city in February 1969 and central Thua Thien-Hue province in September 1969.

VVA Vice President Jack Davine expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese people for their help and cooperation and hoped to receive further help in finding information about US MIAs.

Over the past 13 years, the VITF provided Vietnam's relevant agencies with 214 dossiers and documents about more than 9,000 fallen Vietnamese soldiers of the US war in Vietnam and helped Vietnam collect the remains of more than 900 martyrs.

Founded in 1978, the VVA now has 60,000 members who have made contributions to the process of normalising Vietnam-US relationship and promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries' veterans and people.
