A ceremony for the repatriation of the remains of US servicemen, who died during the war in Vietnam, was held at Da Nang International Airport in central Da Nang city on March 8.

Representatives from the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP), the US Embassy in Vietnam and the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) attended the function.

Representatives of the Vietnamese Government handed over to representatives of the US Government four sets of remains, which were recovered during the 87th Joint Field Activities from October to December 2006.

Those remains were jointly reviewed by Vietnamese and US forensic specialists who concluded that they might be associated with the US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam and recommended they be brought to bring to Hawaii, for further review.

This was the 102nd hand-over of American missing servicemen's remains since 1973, making a total of approximately 854 sets of remains repatriated so far.

Addressing the ceremony, representatives of the US Government highly appreciated humanitarian policies, goodwill and effective cooperation from the Vietnamese Government and people.
