A rehearsal on drug control for relevant Vietnamese forces with help from the US Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection agency opened in Ho Chi Minh City on December 7.

During the week-long drill, US experts will share their experiences with the local anti-drug officers in combating drug trafficking via sea routes.

The experts will also provide the trainees with information about the current situation of drug trafficking and major smuggling routes of smugglers in the region, as well as skills to identify drugs and examine suspect vehicles, goods and documents.

As part of a cooperation agreement on drug control between the two countries, the rehearsal has also received coordination from the Ministry of Public Security's General Police Department, the General Department of Customs of Vietnam, and the US Consul General in HCM City.
