US gives aid to Hue's temple restoration project

The US Department of State will provide aid to the central province of Thua Thien-Hue to help preserve the Trieu To Temple in Hue imperial city.

The US$700,000 aid will be channelled through the US Consulate General in HCM City.

The project will focus on restoring the deteriorating front facade of the temple.

Located in the south-eastern part of the imperial city, the Trieu To Temple was built in 1804 to worship Nguyen Kim (1468-1545), the first ancestor of the Nguyen dynasty, and his wife.

At the beginning of this year, the US Department gave nearly US$30,000 for the restoration of three altars in the temple.
