The Global Community Service Foundation of the US and the Vietnamese embassy in Washington D.C on November 8 co-launched a fund-raising campaign for humanitarian projects in Vietnam in 2007.
Marcia Selva, founder and President of the Foundation, said her organisation plans to raise US$106,300 for nine new projects in central Quang Tri province and central Da Nang city.
The money will be spent on upgrading a place for street children in Da Nang city and building houses for 20 Agent Orange victims as well as victims of mines and ordnances left by the war. It will also cover the training of and assistance to vision-impaired people in Quang Tri's Dong Ha town and other small projects in these localities.
