Unusual cold and rain forecast for northern region in late May
VOV.VN - The northern region of Vietnam will experience an unexpected spell of cold air and light rain from May 28 to 30, an unusual weather pattern for the early summer period, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre.
Meteorologists say the region will see light rain and drizzle alongside a cold air mass starting on May 28.
A wind convergence zone is currently forming at an altitude of 1,500 to 3,000m over northern mountainous and midland localities, which will lead to scattered rain and thunderstorms across affected localities.
Daily temperatures in the northern region are expected to drop to between 22°C and 25°C, significantly cooler than typical late-May conditions.
This abnormal weather pattern is predicted to last for about two days, after which temperatures will gradually rise as the region returns to seasonal norms.
