The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will closely cooperate with the Vietnamese Government to provide reproductive health-related information for young people, said Ian Howie, chief representative of the organisation in Vietnam.
The commitment was made by the UN official at a workshop held in Hanoi on August 11 by the HCM Communist Youth League to launch the 2006-2010 UNFPA-Vietnam Cooperation Programme.
Bui Dang Dung, Secretary of the league, said that the programme aims to help youth organisations at the grassroots level increase the dissemination of information on population policies and reproductive health among local young people.
Under the programme, the Youth League will devise a draft plan of action to implement the Law on Youth, as well as organising forums and talks to raise young people's awareness of reproductive health and safe sex, Mr Dung added.
