Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung on November 12 presided over a meeting to discuss measures against Typhoon Chebi which is expected to hit the Paracel area in the East Sea.
Relevant sectors and localities were asked to try to have contact with fishing vessels still at sea and guide them to safe storm shelters.
Search and rescue forces were also requested to devise emergency plans and mobilise possible means to cope with the typhoon.
According to the National Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre, at 10.00 am on November 12, the wind force near the centre of the storm was gusting up to 12 category (103-133 km per hour). Typhoon Chebi will continue moving west at a speed of 20 km per hour in the next 24 hours.
As from the night of November 13, there will be strong wind and rough seas in the coastal areas between Quang Tri and Quang Ngai.
