Two Vietnamese universities named among most sustainable globally
VOV.VN - The latest UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (UI GreenMetric) of the top 130 most sustainable universities in the world features a total of two Vietnamese universities, namely Ton Duc Thang University and Tra Vinh University.
Ton Duc Thang University has climbed a total of 82 places to rank 83rd in the list and was notable for recording high scores in education and research. In addition, Tra Vinh University was placed at 129th and impressed due to its transportation system and general energy efficiency.
Initially launched in 2010, UI GreenMetric grades universities on six criteria, including their settings and infrastructure, energy efficiency and carbon footprints, waste treatment plants, water usage, transportation systems, and education and research programmes.
The ranking, which was first started as an initiative by the University of Indonesia, aims to draw attention to the necessity of combating climate change and resource conservation among university leaders and stakeholders. It achieves this goal by assessing the current conditions and policies put forward by universities.
