Two Vietnamese named on Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list
VOV.VN - Forbes has announced its annual “30 Under 30 Asia” list for 2026, recognising two Vietnamese representatives for their achievements in healthcare research and venture capital.
The list, unveiled on May 27, includes Hieu Nguyen (Nguyen Hoang Minh Hieu) and Bui Duc Anh among 300 young innovators, entrepreneurs and professionals under the age of 30 across Asia.
Hieu was honoured in the Healthcare & Science category. Born in 2000 in Lam Dong province, he is currently a Knight-Hennessy scholar and pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States.
Hieu began his academic journey in 2019, studying neuroscience at Middlebury College in the United States. He graduated with highest honours and received the Elbert C. Cole Memorial Prize. He was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa (PBK), the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society in the United States, recognising exceptional achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.
Beyond research, the scholar has been actively involved in community projects. Working with Kenya’s Ministry of Health and the non-profit World Telehealth Initiative, he helped establish the first telehealth system in Longisa, improving access to dialysis services.
In 2023, he received the fully funded Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue an MPhil in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge. During this period, he conducted research in oncology and neurodegenerative diseases at leading US institutions, including Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Earlier this year, Hieu co-authored a study published in Science, one of the world’s leading scientific journals, examining biological mechanisms involved in cancer development driven by specific genetic mutations.
Alongside his studies at Stanford, he continues to serve as a strategic adviser to the World Telehealth Initiative, focusing on improving healthcare access for underserved communities.
Before being named to the Forbes list, Hieu was the only Vietnamese student nominated by UWC Vietnam to attend UWC Pearson College in 2017. He beat more than 2,000 applicants to win a full US$80,000 scholarship for the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme that year.
The second Vietnamese honouree is Bui Duc Anh, who was recognised in the Finance & Venture Capital category.
Duc Anh leads AI and cybersecurity investments in Southeast Asia and the U.S. out of Ho Chi Minh City for Kasikorn Business-Technology Group (KBTG), the tech arm of Kasikornbank (KBank), Thailand's third-largest bank by assets.
The Vietnamese man, joined KBTG in January 2025, has built a portfolio of cybersecurity companies in New York and the Bay Area, including Zest Security, a cloud security developer that automates code-based fixes, Jericho Security, a security developer that creates realistic phishing simulations, and Onyxia, a cyber resilience designer that uses AI to optimize security stacks. He also helps U.S. portfolio companies expand into Southeast Asia.
The Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list honours 300 influential individuals under the age of 30 across sectors including technology, finance, science, media, entertainment and business. Recipients are selected by a panel of experts and industry leaders.
