Two missing in severe floods in central provinces

On the morning of November 24, hundreds of officials, soldiers and local people in Phu Yen Province were mobilized to search for Nguyen Thi Hong Tham who went missing in floods.

Bui Van Thanh, chairman of Tuy An district People’s Committee, said Tham and her husband were swept away by floodwaters on the way home from their workplace. Her husband survived while Tham was missing.

Meanwhile in Quang Ngai, floods caused by prolonged torrential rains while rivers kept rising have submerged many routes. Son Tay district was completely isolated. Nearly 2,000 students had to stay home.
A pupil in Son Nham commune, Son Ha district was swept away by floodwaters.

Nearly 17,000 pupils and students in Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province were off school as their schools were flooded.

Torrential rains and floodwaters submerged some localities in Tuy Phuoc district. Many communal roads were 0.7-1m under water and local people had to travel by boats.
