Two foreigners nabbed in VND300 million Da Nang burglary
VOV.VN - Da Nang Police have arrested two foreign nationals in connection with a burglary in which about VND300 million (approximately US$12,000) worth of property was stolen from a residential house,
The suspects, Ling Zingfeng (born 1980) and Yang Jun Yun (born 1987), are being investigated for theft, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang said on January 27.
According to the police, the two men entered Vietnam with the intention of gambling. After losing their money, they allegedly purchased lock-picking tools and planned a series of burglaries.
On the evening of January 24, they allegedly broke into a house in Ngu Hanh Son district and stole cash, gold jewelry and other valuables with a total estimated value of VND300 million.
Following the theft, the suspects changed clothes, discarded disguises in roadside trash bins and used ride-hailing services to flee in different directions to evade detection.
Through professional investigative measures, Da Nang police tracked the suspects as they attempted to leave the city. At around 8:00 p.m. on January 25, police, in coordination with police of Nghe An province, intercepted and arrested both men when their train stopped at Vinh Station en route to Hanoi.
Seized items included eight silver bars, three gold bracelets, one gold necklace, one gold earring and two watches.
Further investigation is underway to clarify related activities and expand the case.
