The plan aims to develop the transport infrastructure in a sustainable, synchronized and modern manner to meet the public demand for travel services and to help reduce traffic jams in Hanoi.
Under the plan, the capital’s administrative area will cover more than 3.344 square kilometers and have a population of 6.23 million including those living Hanoi’s adjacent areas.
In addition, it is necessary to set up a land fund for developing the transport network in Hanoi and come up with solutions to control the movement of transport as well as policies to attract investment in the construction sector.
The plan will lay the groundwork for a project to upgrade and renew Hanoi’s transport infrastructure.
The Prime Minister assigned the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee to become the investor and the Ministry of Construction as the appraisal agency.
