Transport businesses prepare for upcoming holiday season

VOV.VN - Bus and coach stations throughout Hanoi will meet high demand during the upcoming National Reunification Day and May Day public holidays on April 30 and May 1 by putting on additional buses and coaches.

According to Pham Manh Hung, Hanoi Transport Station JSC, passenger numbers are anticipated to increase sharply during the holiday, and the focus will be on a number of localities boasting tourism potential such as Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, and Son La.

He noted that the number of passengers to Giap Bat and My Dinh Stations could reach 12,000 each day during the holiday, a rise of 200% to 300% compared to normal days. In addition, the number of buses and coaches at each station is expected to reach 900 per day.

At Gia Lam Station, the highest number of passengers during peak days is set to reach 5,000 per day, an increase of roughly 200% compared to weekdays. Furthermore, 550 vehicles, mainly concentrated on routes to Bac Giang, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, will be prepared to meet the increase in travel demand during the four-day break.

Hung stressed that standby coaches will be also available at the station in order to serve the surge in the number of passengers.

To ensure traffic order and security, Hung shared that his company will order bus stations and their staff to closely supervise coaches in a bid to halt any overloading of vehicles and the overcharging of passengers.

Moreover, there are also plans in place to co-ordinate with local police and transport inspectors to prevent the illegal transport of explosives, banned or fake goods, as well as dealing with crimes like gambling or pickpocketing.
