Tragic hit and run accident leaves 1 dead, 5 injured in HCM City

VOV.VN - One person was killed and 5 others were injured when a tipper truck collided with 6 motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City on March 1.

The accident occurred on March 1 at around 10pm on Phan Van Tri Street en route from Go Vap District to Binh Thanh District when the driver of a tipper truck lost control, crashing through the railing dividing the street before hitting 6 motorbikes travelling in the opposite direction.
The six motorbike drivers were rushed to hospital immediately after the incident. On the morning of March 2, one of the victims had succumbed to their injuries. The other 5 people are all seriously injured and remain in critical condition.

The metal railing dividing the street was destroyed in the accident.
Fragments of motorcycles, shoes, and helmets are strewn 15 meters from the accident.
Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, 49, said she could not believe in her eyes, so many people were suddenly stuck under the tipper truck, victims could not call for help, they were trapped and seriously injured.
Vuong Quoc Dung, 27, who helped rescue the victims, said he had never witnessed such a tragic accident before, some were convulsing in shock.
Many victims are in emergency treatment. After the accident, the driver of tipper truck fled from the scene, the police are still in pursuit of the suspect.
