Traffic accidents kill 28 on second day of lunar new year
VOV.VN - As many as 83 traffic accidents occurred nationwide on February 11, or the second day of the lunar new year, causing 28 deaths and 87 injuries, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.
Among them was one accident recorded on a railway track, injuring one person.
These figures represent increases of five accidents and 22 injuries, and a reduction of seven deaths compared to February 10, the first day of the lunar year of the dragon.
Over the past three-day, traffic police have handled over 7,846 cases of violations of traffic laws, and issued fines worth more than VND20.7 billion. They have also sequestered 253 cars, more than 4,470 motorbikes, and 2,078 driving licenses.
Among them, 3,993 were penalised for drink-driving and 1,229 faced sanctions for speed limit violations.
