Traffic accidents kill 15 on first day of Tet

According to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, the whole country saw 21 traffic accidents with 15 deaths and 13 injuries on February 5, the first day of the lunar New Year.

Compared to a day earlier, those figures fell by 15, 9 and 13, respectively, the office said about the peak time of traffic accidents, during which people from all corners of the country often rush home for family reunion in the longest and most important festival in Vietnam.

It is also reported that the force and local authorities dealt with 2,300 cases of violation, collected fines totaling over 1.13 billion VND (nearly 49,000 USD), detained 26 automobiles and 432 motorcyles.
