Top high school physics students to take on Asia

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Education and Training has unveiled that a group of eight of the brightest high school physics students in the country have been selected to take on the region’s best at the upcoming Asian Physics Olympiad in Russia.

A team of eight year 12 students will compete in the region’s toughest physics competition, testing their skills in practical and written exams over a 10-day period from May 1-9 against some of the smartest kids.

The Vietnamese team will compete against those from 29 countries including China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia.

It is never easy taking on teams from countries with huge populations like China and India, says the Ministry, noting that the students selected worked hard in national qualifying exams and intensive summer school training to win their spot on the team.

The Asian Physics Olympiads began in 2000 and has become an annual competition for secondary school students from Asia and the Oceania region. It is held two months before the International Physics Olympiads.

The Vietnamese team members for the Asian Physics Olympiad are: Tran Huu Binh Minh and Phan Tuan Linh from Nghe An; Nguyen The Quynh from Quang Binh; Nguyen Dinh Bach, Dinh Anh Dung and Ta Ba Dung from Hanoi; Nguyen Van Thanh Loi from Binh Phuoc; and Nguyen Ngoc Long from Thanh Hoa.
