Tina Yuan: From 100 countries back to Vietnam, telling stories that matter
VOV.VN - After traveling to over 100 countries, Tina Yuan, a business executive in Singapore returns to her homeland Vietnam to create her most personal book yet - one that captures the everyday beauty, traditions, and evolving spirit of local life.

Having traveled to over 100 countries and mastered four languages, Tina Yuan now returns to her roots with her upcoming book, wholly inspired by Vietnam. Known for her emotional storytelling and cultural insight, Tina shifts from global wanderer to voice of home, weaving the beauty of Vietnamese life into literature with depth, nuance, and grace.
Her earlier works, Missing Paris Date and Dating with Bulgaria offered intimate reflections on love and self-discovery. But this latest book marks a turning point: it is not about leaving but about coming home to listen, understand, and preserve the soul of a culture.
Rather than focus on too many landmarks, Tina draws inspiration from everyday life: a meal with a fishing family in Central Vietnam, a bike ride through rice paddies, or the quiet of a northern rain and experiencing weather from different parts of Vietnam. Her writing explores how Vietnamese people live, eat, remember, and adapt, highlighting the strength of family, the spirit of community, and the evolution of the younger generation.
She blends fact with fiction to capture the emotion and reality of her journey. “Vietnam doesn’t sit still in the past. It breathes in every market, meal, and memory,” she says. Deeply moved by traditions like ancestor worship, Tina sees them as cultural practices and timeless bridges between generations.
A bilingual edition of the book is in preparation, alongside plans for exhibitions, school visits, and talks to bring Vietnamese culture to a broader audience. For Tina, storytelling is more than preservation. It is an act of connection.
