Three Vietnamese are among MH17 plane crash victims

(VOV) - There were three Vietnamese out of nearly 300 victims aboard Malaysian Airlines MH17 aircraft which was shot down in Eastern Ukraine on July 17.
At an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on July 18, Vietnamese ambassador to the UN Le Hoai Trung said he had just learned that three unidentified passengers aboard the plane were from Vietnam.
Addressing the UN meeting, ambassador Trung asked for an independent investigation into the cause of the tragic crash.
The plane was carrying a total of 298 people on board, including the crew, when it was downed. Among the victims were 189 Dutch people.
A spokesperson for the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July said Vietnam was saddened by the crash and he extended condolences to governments, people and families of the victims.
