Three face death penalty for drug trafficking
The People’s Court of the northern province of Bac Ninh on July 4 sentenced three members of a drug trafficking ring to death.
Loc Van Tai (32), Hoang Van Thich (26) and Luong Van Thong (41) were given the death sentences following a two-day trial. Two other members of the ring, Luong Hai Trang (52) and Hoang Van Phong (22), received life imprisonment sentences.
According to the indictment, the accused, who have kindred with each other, together formed a drug trafficking ring.
On May 10 and 15, 2011, they trafficked six packets of heroin weighing 340.28 grams each. On May 24, Luong Van Thong was caught red-handed transporting 10 packets of heroin, totalling over 3.4 kg, to the northern province of Lang Son to sell it to Loc Van Tai.
