Thousands of people return home to celebrate National Day

VOV.VN -Hordes of people left the capital of Hanoi amid heavy rain on the afternoon of August 30 to return to their hometowns to enjoy the National Day celebrations.

For this year’s event, officials and labourers have been granted three days of leave from Saturday, August 31, to Monday, September 2.

Due to the extended weekend, many choose to return to their hometown with most taking the journey by bus.
A number of people arrived at the My Dinh, Giap Bat, and Nuoc Ngam bus stations early to purchase their tickets so they can return home to see their families or go further afield for a holiday.
In order to meet the surge in demand for travel, Giap Bat bus station added an extra 115 bus trips, with a focus on main routes to destinations such as Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh.

By 16:30, all of the seats in the departures lounge in the Giap Bat and Nuoc Ngam bus terminals were full.
Despite the heavy rains brought on by the effects of typhoon Podul, thousands of labourers and students still made the journey to local bus stations to return home.
The booths to purchase tickets to Nghe An and Thanh Hoa were crowded with people.
