Thailand’s marine police capture Vietnamese fishing boats

Media in Thailand reported on November 24 that their marine police captured two Vietnamese fishing boats with nine fishermen on board for illegally fishing off Narathiwat province in south Thailand.

The Vietnamese fishing boats were arrested when catching holothurians in Thailand’s waters and their activities were reported by Thai fishermen, said lieutenant colonel Daecha Upachaya, deputy head of the marine police unit No.7.

Police held many fishing tools together with 30 kg of holothurians and detained Vietnamese fishermen at the Narathiwat provincial police station for interrogations.

Over the past six months, Thai functional forces captured 8 Vietnamese fishing vessels illegally entering Narathiwat’s waters.
