Telecoms rush to restore Vietnam internet connectivity
VOV.VN - Telecom operators are still scrambling to eliminate the impact on internet connectivity in Vietnam from damage to several undersea submarine cables following a breakdown in early January 2017.

The cables were expected to have been repaired on or about February 25, but that date has now been pushed back to March 1, according to workers aboard a cable ship.
The situation demonstrates the need for more investment by the telecom operators in the undersea internet cable system as the country relies on connectivity, which they have not been able to satisfactorily maintain.
The Intra Asia cables connecting Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan ruptured on January 10. Initially it was reported they were fixed the same day.
However, the cables ruptured again the following day and it was expected they would be back up to full speed by February 25.
