Taiwan’s capital city of Taipei held a Vietnamese Cultural Day on August 23 to acknowledge the contributions made by thousands of Vietnamese people who are currently working in the territory.
The event, held at the Da-an Park, attracted many municipal officials and more than 1,000 overseas Vietnamese workers living in Taiwan.
Addressing the event, the Mayor of Taipei, Hau Lung-pin, pointed out that the festival is also to commemorate Vietnam’s National Day on September 2. He praised the contributions made by Vietnamese workers and said they should seek consultancy and assistance from the Taipei government office in charge of labour issues if they have any difficulties at their work.
Mr Hau said that more than 1,300 Vietnamese have married local Taiwanese and more than 5,000 Vietnamese people are working in Taipei city alone.
