Sydney-based VOV Bureau shows new step of stronger development

VOV.VN - The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) officially launched a new representative office in Sydney, Australia on March 17 as part of the national multimedia agency’s blueprint to reach a wider global audience.

Prominent guests attending the opening ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Ms. Rhonda Piggott, Director of the New South Wales State Office among others.

In his remarks, VOV President Nguyen The Ky said VOV Australia will serve as a bridge linking Vietnam and Australia, New Zealand and other Oceanian countries as a contribution to deepening mutual understanding.

In a recent interview granted to the media, Ky affirmed that the establishment of this bureau indicates Vietnam's interest in Australia.

"This bureau covers information about Australia, New Zealand and their neighboring nations. We impart news stories about the comprehensive cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Australia, especially in economics, trade, education and other fields.

VOV also disseminates information about life and activities towards the home country of the 300,000 Vietnamese community in Australia as well as Party and State guidelines and legal policies, and Vietnam's renewal process so that Australian friends and overseas Vietnamese get a deeper insight into the country," Ky said.

The launch of the new VOV bureau came after Vietnam and Australia upgraded bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. Australia is VOV’s 11th bureau abroad.
