Storm Parma weakened into a tropical depression on October 14 after churning up the coast from Ninh Binh province to Hai Phong City, according to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Centre.
At 16.00 the depression was moving near coastal areas from Thai Binh to Nam Dinh provinces, packing winds of between 39-49km/h near its centre. In the next 12 hours, the depression is forecast to travel west and south-west at a speed of 5-10km/h and weaken further.
However, the centre has warned northern coastal provinces from Ninh Binh to Quang Ninh against heavy downpours and rough seas.
