State Vice President Truong My Hoa on February 5 received representatives of the Shanghai Raas group led by President of the Executive Board Huang Qiao.

At the reception, Mr Qiao informed Mrs Hoa of the group’s recent charitable activities in Vietnam such as building schools and providing scholarships for poor students.

Notably, Shanghai Raas has helped build compassionate houses in 16 provinces including Lang Son, Lam Dong, Vinh Long, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue.

In 2006, the group provided billions of VND to help people in northern and southern Vietnamese provinces overcome the typhoon aftermath.

For her part, Mrs Hoa expressed her appreciation for Shang Hai Raas’ efforts in launching charitable activities in Vietnam, which she said, are important for the current progress of national development as there remain a lot of poor and disadvantaged people in the country. The Party and State always create every favorable condition for overseas Vietnamese to make more contribution to national construction and engage in charitable activities, Mrs Hoa said.
