Spring get-together for Vietnamese in Laos
(VOV) - Vietnamese residents living in the Lao province of Xieng Khouang held a get-together in capital Vientiane on February 7 celebrating Vietnam’s traditional lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
Tran Hanh, vice president of the General Vietnamese Association in Laos, said Vietnamese residents in Xieng Khouang maintain cultural identity, take part in community campaigns and turn their heart to the homeland.
They meet every week to share business experience, support those in difficult circumstances, and run art classes to perform on big anniversaries of the two countries.
Vietnamese ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung extended best wishes to the community on the Lunar New Year, and encouraged them to strengthen unity, abide by local law, assist each other to overcome hardship, and contribute to relations between Vietnam and Laos.
Lao Minister of Home Affairs Khampanphivong also attended the gathering.
