Specialised TV channel for Central Highlands launched

Vietnam Television (VTV) and the Permanent Steering Committee for the Central Highlands launched the national TV channel VTV5 in Dak Lak province on October 17.

The channel will portray life in the Central Highland region and popularise science and technology, and Party and State policies among ethnic minorities.

Currently, five radio and TV stations in the region are coordinating with VTV5 to air programmes on the channel, including four hours per day of programmes in ethnic minority languages such as Ede, Bana and Gia Rai.

Additionally, the channel will televise news in Vietnamese.

The same day, the terrestrial digital broadcast station was inaugurated.

The Central Highlands includes Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces.
