Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations with the SOS Children’s Villages International, while backing operations of the SOS Children’s Villages Vietnam, Dam said.

On the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of the SOS Children’s Villages Vietnam, he thanked the SOS Children’s Villages International and donors worldwide for their contributions to the organisation’s development.

The Deputy PM stressed the need for new approaches in coordination between the two sides in upcoming projects.

He also asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to map out a schedule to increase Vietnam’s proportion in these projects through mobilising resources from donors and enterprises and including them in existing child care and support programmes.

Siddhartha Kaul stated that the ceremony to mark the 30th founding anniversary of SOS Children’s Villages Vietnam and receive first-class Labour Order acknowledged the contributions made by the SOS Children's Villages International and its Vietnam chapter for the care of disadvantaged children in the country.

SOS Children’s Villages International has provided Vietnam with nearly US$120 million to develop infrastructure in SOS villages in the past 30 years.

Among 6,000 children nursed in 17 villages across the country, 2,800 have grown up and landed stable jobs and some 3,100 others are being brought up in SOS villages.
