The Nam Cong and Nam Soi hydroelectric power plants will be put into operation by June 2010 to contribute to the socio-economic development of Son La’s border districts Song Ma and Sop Cop.

The two plants, with a design capacity of 10 MW each, will have an annual output production of 36 million kwh. They are invested in by the North-West Electric Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (NEED).

The Nam Cong plant is scheduled to begin generating electricity in March while the Nam Soi plant will begin its production in May.

NEED Deputy CEO Truong Viet Hoa says both investors and contractors are making efforts so the Nam Cong plant will be connected to the national grid by the end of March.
