Son La shaken by two earthquakes within one day
VOV.VN - Two separate earthquakes measuring between 2.6 and 3.5 on the Richter scale hit Moc Chau district of the northern mountainous province of Son La on the evening of July 28.
The latest earthquakes to hit Moc Chau district occurred at 20:28 and 21:00, with the quake’s epicentre having a depth of between 8.1km and 11.3km, although no significant damage was reported as a result of the occurrence.
Following Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's urgent notice to relevant units to address consequences of recent earthquakes, Son La People's Committee has moved to dispatch a mission to Moc Chau district in an effort to assess the damage.
The province has therefore instructed Tan Lap and La Muong communes to strive to overcome the consequences caused by the quakes while mobilising relevant forces in order to set up temporary safe places to evacuate local households and residents from dangerous areas.
In terms of construction works left heavily damaged by the incident, the province will swiftly allocate capital to rebuild essential infrastructure such as schools and medical stations.
Most notably, the recent two-day period saw a total of 16 earthquakes shake the Moc Chau area, affecting roughly 300 houses and public works throughout the region.
