With its focus on content, including a wide range of videos for entertainment, images, music, books and magazines, Lotus is expected to meet the demand for social networks among all groups of users, Thanh Nien newspaper reported, citing Nguyen The Tan, general director of VCCorp.
Tan noted that social networks created in Vietnam were typically unprofessional, with uninteresting content, leading to their eventual closure.
Apart from ensuring popular content is shared, Lotus was designed to cooperate with and share information and news from 30 news sources, such as VTV, Thanh Nien, Tuoi Tre and Lao Dong, Tan remarked.
In addition, Lotus’ content management system helps content creators design and edit their products to reflect their unique styles and characteristics.
From September 9, users will be able to download the Lotus app and register for accounts in advance of the full launch.
The pilot launch of three to six months will allow the firm to perfect the app and its software, removing any bugs, based on users’ feedback.
Aside from the initial investment of VND700 billion, VCCorp plans to call for additional investment of VND500 billion in the first phase to develop the project over the long term.
Some 200 VCCorp technical engineers operating in the fields of mobile applications, artificial intelligence and Big Data worked on the project, which was designed by a group of user-experience experts.
