The Sa Pa meteorological station reported that the temperature has declined by three to four degrees Celsius from the cold spell and drizzle.

The Lao Cai HMFC said the cold spell has spread from the Northwest mountain region to North Central provinces and is considered favourable for seasonal diseases to break out.

On January 13, classes began later than usual in some schools in the mountain districts and some were even closed due to the adverse weather.

Local authorities have made necessary preparations to protect their cattle and crops.
