Sleeper bus overturns on national highway during heavy rain in Vietnam
VOV.VN - A sleeper bus carrying 10 people overturned on National Highway 19 traversing Gia Lai province during heavy rain late on March 9, leaving two passengers injured and causing property damage estimated at around VND250 million.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred in Binh Khe commune, part of former Binh Dinh province, said authorities of Gia Lai. When it happened, the sleeper bus was carrying 10 passengers and travelling west to east along the highway.
At around 10:35 pm, when the bus reached section 55km+400 in Trung Son village of Binh Khe commune, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned on the roadside, said police.
Two passengers from Dak Lak province were injured in the accident, with multiple injuries.
Local residents helped rescue those trapped inside the vehicle and assisted in transporting the injured to Gia Lai General Hospital for treatment.
Traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to regulate traffic and launch an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Initial findings suggest that heavy rain and slippery road conditions may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading it to overturn onto the right roadside.
Police said tests for alcohol and drugs showed that the driver had not violated regulations.
