The sixth Congress of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the UK successfully concluded on July 2 with the participation of its members, overseas Vietnamese and staff members from the Vietnamese embassy and other representative agencies in the UK.

Vice President of the association Nguyen Duc Thanh delivered a report reviewing the association’s activities since the fifth congress (November 2, 2003).

At the congress, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Trinh Duc Du read a letter of greetings from Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phu Binh, who is also Chairman of the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.
The association appointed a new executive board of nine members who promised to do their best to fulfil its tasks in a spirit of solidarity, mutual affection, preservation of traditional culture, integration and operation within the laws of the UK.

The board also held a ceremony to raise funds for victims hit by typhoon Chanchu recently and President of the association Nguyen Huy Ich handed over a sum of GBP 1,020 to Ambassador Trinh Duc Du to contribute the Fund for Support of Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims.
