There will be likely ten storms in the East Sea this year including six typhoons which will directly affect Vietnam’s territory, said Mr Bui Minh Tang, director of the National Centre for Meteorological and Hydrological forecast.
Mr Tang said this year’s weather will be different from the previous years due to La Nina’s effects. The storm season will begin later than in previous years and the level of flood water in rivers will be higher than last year.
Members from the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control have decided to work around the clock as of May 15 until the end of the storm season.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Dao Xuan Hoc said the Standing Office will closely co-ordinate with relevant agencies and ministries to update information on the development of typhoons to reduce the human losses and property.
