Six-month traffic accidents claim over 5,684 lives, down 2.7%

VOV.VN - As many as 5,684 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 3,286 people during the first six months of the year, according to a statement made by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on June 29.

During the reviewed period, the number of cases dropped by 10.4%, while the number of deaths increased by 2.7%.

The daily average throughout the six month period stood at 31 accidents, 19 deaths, and 11 injuries.

Most notably, between May 15 and June 14, 951 accidents occurred.

Furthermore, June witnessed the number of traffic accidents increase by 2.8% compared to the previous month, with a rise of 15.3% on-year compared to the same period from last year.

Moreover, the number of deaths in June went up by 8.2% compared to the previous month and 20.4% compared to the same period from last year.
