Representatives of the Overseas Labour Management Board have flown to Malaysia to deal with labour disputes between six Vietnamese workers at Supreme Healthy Vegetarian Food factory and their employer to protect the legitimate rights of Vietnamese workers.

The six female workers were sent to work at the Malaysian factory last February, where they encountered numerous difficulties in communications and work due to their bad command of English and the native language. Particularly, despite the employer’s warning, two of the workers had many times violated the factory’s labour principles, forcing the employer to offend and ill-treat them.

Representatives of the Overseas Labour Management Board met with the factory’s employer and representatives of relevant agencies to deal with the case. Ill-treated workers were hospitalised for medical check-ups and injury identification.

The employer vowed not to offend the employees and asked them to return to work.

However, these employees expressed their desire to work in other places. The Overseas Labour Management Board and AIC company, which sent the workers to the Malaysian factory, are looking for the new workplace for the workers.

In case they do not find the right work place, AIC will bring them back to Vietnam and send them to Malaysia later.
