Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the National Youth Council of Singapore held talks in Hanoi on November 20 to discuss the content of a cooperative agreement between the two countries’ young people, which will be signed in 2007.

The two sides agreed to further exchange information about their activities with a focus on voluntary activities of Vietnamese students studying in Singapore and vice versa.


Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Doan Van Thai expressed his hope that more young Singaporeans people will come to Vietnam to participate in voluntary activities. In addition to teaching English and engaging in exchanges, Singaporean volunteers can help local young people with vocational training, said Mr Thai.

Director of the National Youth Council of Singapore How Yue said Singapore will hold an exchange programme with Vietnam next year, including a forum for Singaporean youths to discuss and learn patriotism from Vietnamese youths.
