Seven arrested for trafficking minors into China

VOV.VN - Police in the northern border province of Lao Cai have prosecuted and arrested seven people, charging them with allegedly trafficking U16 girls into China, local police said September 11.

The arrested individuals, aged 21 to 44, are residents of Lao Cai, Dien Bien and Lai Chau provinces. The ring was led by Sung A Cho, 29, of Muong Nhe district in Dien Bien province.

Sung A Cho has been operating trafficking activities since 2018 and has run at least 29 scams involving 41 victims from northern provinces such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, and Bac Kan.

The trafficked individuals were sold in China at prices ranging from CNY12,000 to CNY20,000 per person, with Sung A Cho receiving a cut of CNY3,000 each time.

While Sung A Cho and his aid Thao Seo Hoa were originally arrested on July 2, the remaining members of the group have been arrested and put in prison at different times between July and August.

The police are currently expanding their investigation in order to ascertain the responsibility of each individual involved in the case.
