Nguyen Duc, one of the Siamese twins affected by Agent Orange and separated by Japanese and Vietnamese doctors 21 years ago, is the new father of fraternal twins.

The babies were born on October 25 after Duc’s wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen underwent a Caesarean operation conducted by doctors at Tu Du Maternity Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Pham Viet Thanh, director of the hospital, said the boy weights 1.6 kg and the girl, 1.15 kg. The two babies, who were born prematurely, are in good health.

Duc said the babies’ names, which are still undecided, will reflect Vietnam-Japan relationship.
Duc was born in 1981 in Gia Lai Province, and separated from his brother in 1988 after a 12-hour operation. His elder brother Nguyen Viet, who lived in a vegetative state, died in 2007.
