The second section, measured at 92m in length, 33m in width, 9m in height, and more than 27,000 tonnes in weight, was tugged by four tow-boats 22km along the Sai Gon River from a casting pool in Nhon Trạch district, Dong Nai province, to its position in Thu Thiem, HCM City.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan said the second section of Thu Thiem tunnel was towed safely and ahead the schedule thanks to experience gained from the successful transport of the first section. He praised the close and effective cooperation between central agencies and provincial authorities to perform the task well.

HCM City mayor Le Hoang Quan said in addition to good weather and valuable lessons from the transport of the first section, cooperation among the 25 units involved in the Thu Thiem tunnel made the second maneuver a great success.
