Forty Vietnamese and Republic of Korean trainees began a course on Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) at the Francophone Institute of Informatics (IFI) in Hanoi on September 21.
The course, which lasts until October 2 has been organised by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Institute of Physics (IOP), the Institute of Information and Technology and the IFI.
French and Korean lecturers will help the trainees to use EGEE which links more than 10,000 computers on nearly 30 countries around the world into the GRID network, with capacity of 10PB, to solve huge calculations efficiently in the fields of high energy physics, earth and life sciences, astrophysics, pharmacology, hydrology and cosmography.
The course will also be put online so trainees from around the world can register to take part in it.
