The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the World Bank (WB) on August 18 held a meeting in Hanoi to seek ways to develop scientific research especially in the education sector in Vietnam.

Scientific research plays an important role in the educational sector, especially in universities, said Deputy Prime Minister and MOET Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Vietnam wishes to consider solutions proposed by the WB which aim to boost the development of scientific research in the country.

According to Dr. R.A Mashelkar, WB representative and Indian top expert on educational innovation, it is necessary to build a legal system for the development of scientific research.

Funds that aim to invest in the development science, despite the fact that it is a high-risk field, should be set up and the relationship between investors and inventors is also very important. The linkages between science and technology and education must be tightened.

The expert also shared his country’s experiences on the issue at the meeting.
