Samsung works on rooftop solar power project at Bac Ninh factory
VOV.VN - Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) on April 24 broke ground on a rooftop solar power project at its factory in Yen Phong Industrial Park of northern Bac Ninh province.

The project, developed in partnership with CME Solar Investment, is expected to generate 2.59 million kWh of clean electricity annually and cut around 2,460 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
With an initial installed capacity of 2.38 MW, the project marks the first collaboration between SEV and CME Solar to develop renewable energy infrastructure across Samsung’s production facilities in Vietnam. The initiative reflects the Korean tech giant’s commitment to sustainable development and a low-emissions future.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, SEV General Director Kim Iee Soo emphasised that the project underscores Samsung’s responsibility toward the environment and Vietnamese society, calling it a significant step in the company’s green transformation strategy.
CME Solar CEO Chung Dieu Tuan affirmed the importance of corporate participation in Vietnam’s net-zero ambition by 2050, saying the project will contribute not only to energy efficiency but also to a greener, more sustainable future.
The SEV plant, which began operations in 2008, was Samsung’s first mobile phone manufacturing site in Vietnam. The solar initiative is seen as the first step in a nationwide green transition across all Samsung factories.
The partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to Vietnam’s sustainable development goals and aligns with the global shift toward eco-friendly industrial practices.
