The application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to tea production will help farmers improve their products and consolidate their brands by raising their awareness of food safety, responsibility to the community, and access to advanced technologies, said Bui Sy Doanh, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Participants at the conference discussed procedures in safe tea production and the use of insecticides and fertilisers, watering, harvest and post-harvest preservation.
The project will be carried out in 35 localities through cooperation between the MARD, the An Giang Plant Protection Company and all of the major tea-producing provinces as part of the national action plan for food hygiene and safety.
