Russian national to be prosecuted for cannabis planting in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The People’s Procuracy of Binh Thuan province, south-central Vietnam, said on April 20 it has completed the indictment to prosecute Shedko Dmitri, a Russian national, for illegal drug possession.

Dmitri, 34, was caught red handed planting 27 cannabis plants in her lodging house in Ham Tien ward of Phan Thiet city in December 2021.

The police also seized 3 kg of dried cannabis and other exhibits related to cannabis cultivation and production, including irrigation, electric lighting and air conditioning systems.

Dmitri confessed that she had acquired experience of planting and producing cannabis before entering Vietnam.

In August 2020 she bought cannabis seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, and cannabis making tools on social networks and then brought them home for planting and production in her house.

At first, Shedko Dmitri planted about 20 cannabis plants and then harvested, dried, and stored the product for use. She also distributed the drug to other foreigners living in Phan Thiet city.

The case was brought to light when the Russian national continued to plant 27 new cannabis plants in her house.
